What is the world wide web?

It’s like jumping back 30 or so years! The World Wide Web (WWW), also known as the web, is a global network of interconnected documents and resources that can be accessed through the internet. It was created in 1989 by Tim Berners-Lee, a computer scientist at CERN, with the goal of enabling the sharing and exchange of information between scientists in different parts of the world.

The World Wide Web is based on the principles of hypertext and uses a system of hyperlinks to connect web pages and other digital resources, such as images, videos, and audio files. The web is accessed through a web browser, which retrieves and displays web pages from web servers located all around the world.

The World Wide Web has had a profound impact on the way we access and share information, transforming the way we learn, work, and communicate with each other. It has enabled the creation of new types of content and services, such as social media, e-commerce, and online collaboration tools, and has facilitated the development of new industries and business models. What lead to the creation of the world wide web?

The World Wide Web (WWW) was created by Sir Tim Berners-Lee in 1989 while working at the European Organization for Nuclear Research (CERN). Berners-Lee was looking for a way to help scientists at CERN share information more easily and efficiently. At the time, there were many different computer systems and software programs in use, which made it difficult to access and share information across different platforms.

Berners-Lee proposed a system of hyperlinked documents that could be accessed and shared over the internet using a standard set of protocols. This system would become the World Wide Web, and the first web page was created in 1991. The web was based on the principles of hypertext, which allowed for non-linear linking of information, and the use of a standardized markup language (HTML) to create and format web pages.
